Grandma's Temple Day

On Wednesday March 24th, 2010 a day I have been hoping for my whole life finally came:  my Grandma Kemp went to the temple for the first time and received her endowments.  And what a special day it was!

For several years my Grandparents have been inactive in the church.  My grandpa still is (but don't worry, we'll get him eventually :) ).  There were a lot of things that contributed to my grandma's decisions not to attend church--but I know now she never lost her testimony.

I remember the day she called me and told me she was beginning to attend church again.  About a year ago she called me and said she'd been starting to go to church again.  She lives right across the street from her church building, so of course she walks to church.  When she called me she said, "It's 122 steps from my front door to the church, and it's taken me 12 and half years to get there--and it felt good."

Now, a year later, with the support of my still inactive grandpa and 3 uncles, at the Mount Timpanogos Temple my grandma has finally been able to receive the temple blessings she spent years longing for.

There was such a wonderful spirit as she came out and shared her testimony with us, and especially with my grandpa and uncles.  Her strength and her spirit are such an amazing example to me.  And I'm so grateful for my wonderful parents who were married in the temple and have remained worthy all these years so they could be the example and support she needed.

What a wonderful day it was!  I hope that some day soon it's my turn for these amazing blessings--and it will be even better knowing that now my grandma gets to be there with me.

The church is true my friends!
