Engaged? Yes!

And a month and a half later finally blogging about it!  But yes, it's true, on Nov. 16th, I got engaged to an incredible man named Ben.  You've seen a little bit of how he's spoiled me since we started dating, and the engagement was no exception!

It started out with a drive up to Logan, "to go to lunch with Grandpa" and a stop at the Ellen Eccles Theatre (a gorgeous old theatre with beautiful architecture) to "see what shows they've got coming up."  And it turned into this:

We walked into the theater, the curtain went up, and I saw this:

 

My first thought on seeing this was, "I wonder what show they are doing?"

 But I quickly caught on....

   

 We tried to eat, but we ended up taking home a lot of left overs.  Who can eat at a time like that?

And to top it all off, my fortune cookie (NOT organized by Ben, it was just a regular fortune cookie from a restaurant):

Is that meant to be or what?!

What an amazing and special way to spend a day I'll never forget!  It was perfect! 

 *Pictures were taken afterward.  The proposal was private, personal and perfect (although the theatre employees later confessed to watching us on the camera from the box office. Ha!)!

Happy Birthday to Me!

Normally I don't make a big deal of my birthday.  In fact, I prefer not to talk about it (especially when you turned 26, ugh).  But this year (Sept. 27) I had an AWESOME birthday (thanks to the incredible Ben), so I have to brag about it. 

First, he surprised me by arranging for me to get off work early.  I walked out to my car, to discover it had been decorated:

From there he sent me on a scavenger hunt, where I started gathering a huge collection of gifts (I wish I had taken more pictures, but here is my final stash (including candy, Season 1 of Glee, Boggle, a puzzle, a necklace, a vase of Stargazer Lilies, and a dress {he took me shopping at the mall}):

Finally (best surprise ever!) we drove to the Ogden Airport, where Ben had arranged for a friend to fly us to Provo to go do dinner (also, it's important to note, I got to FLY the plane at one point. Yeah, I'm awesome): 

 We flew right at Sunset, so we got a GORGEOUS view!

I was SPOILED, and it was the best day ever!  Thanks Ben! :)

Arizona Sunshine

I'm delayed in writing about it...but I got my summer vacation after all!  The second weekend of September we took a fun little weekend trip to Arizona to see Ben's family.  Along with family fun and lots of games, here are the awesome things we did: 

Rode horses (we were totally pro)

 

Swam in a gorgeous river (Fossil Springs)

 Went cliff jumping off a gorgeous water fall! (seriously, it was like those places you see in movies)

 And rode horses some more!

It was such a fun vacation with amazing people to spend it with!  It was a great end to the summer!

What A Summer!

For the first time in a few years, I stayed home this summer.  No glamorous vacations, no adventurous trips--and I must admit I am itching for somewhere to go (but lacking the funds to do so).  However, despite the absence of travel opportunities, I have had a summer worth remembering.  Instead of plane tickets and a suitcase, I filled it with:

Pool Parties and Water Slides

 Amazing Friends and Roommates

A New Romance  :)  (I know you're shocked, but it's true--these pictures are not photo-shopped)

       


Fireworks! (one of my favorite things about summer)

       

Baseball Games

        

 Movie Nights on the Balcony (yes, we did watch The Sound of Music. But that's what I like, and he lets me, so it works!)

   

Trips to the Beach (including Marci and my matching swimwear)

And much, much more that I don't have pictures of! Like camping trips, volleyball nights, watching a meteor shower, etc, etc. 

It really has been the perfect summer, and I'm sad to see it go.  But the great thing about life is there is always something new just ahead.

Coming up next—FALL.  Can’t wait to see what adventures it has in store.

Greeting Cards

I love homemade cards, and definitely agree with the many people who say that they are more personal and creative.  But, alas, I am not one of those who was blessed with the creativity, skill and patience to create said cards.  Every now and then I give it a try, but more often you will find me frequenting the greeting card aisle at the grocery store (usually 10 minutes before whatever event the card was needed for).

However, even though I usually wish I was better at doing the homemade, personalized cards, the other day I was very grateful for my visits to the card aisle when I discovered, and had to buy, this gem:

This might just be too good to give away. :)

Friday Night

I don't know who decided having plans on the weekends was a necessary feature of one's social life...but I, for one, am perfectly content staying at home sometimes on a Friday night listening to the Glee soundtrack (love it!) and updating my blog. 

I'm also not one bit concerned about how this little confession affects my coolness level.  I'm enjoying myself too much to care.
